School Groups FAQ

Do you have school group performances?
Yes.

Do you bring your performances to schools?
We have our own theatre space located in TriBeCa where we do all of our school performances. Our shows are designed for the space so bringing them to your school auditorium is, unfortunately, not possible.

How much is a group?
One classroom of children is considered a group. Please note: if you only book one classroom we will match you with another group or groups so there is a full audience.

Is there assigned seating?
We have a small house of raked (aka stadium) bench seating. We can hold 74. We seat by age/grade so if you have a class of Kindergartners they will get the first rows while the second graders will sit in the upper rows.

What is the max number of people I can bring?
We have 74 seats.

Who pays?
Everyone pays. Teachers, Students, Parents. MCT can give teachers/parents a receipt so they can apply for a reimbursement.

What is the cost?
Tickets are done on a sliding scale between $6-$12 dollars. Please call 212-226-4085 to see where on the scale you fall.

What is the Cancellation Policy?
Cancellation 2 weeks PRIOR to performance will incur no additional charge.

50% of the REMAINING balance will be charged if your reservation is cancelled within two weeks for any reasons (weather, bus troubles, etc).

How can I pay?
Checks, Credit Cards (Mastercard, Visa, AMEX), Board of Education Vouchers or CASH Accepted.

Please make checks to: Manhattan Children's Theatre.

Please call 212-226-4085 with credit card information

Is a deposit necessary?
Yes, beginning Aug 1, 2009. $100 non-refundable deposit is necessary to book all school show performances.

I’m a non-profit organization. Why can’t I get free tickets?
We are also a non-profit organization. We exist because of every ticket we sell.

Can we have lunch at the theatre?
During warmer months we strongly suggest you take advantages of eating lunch outside in the parks surrounding us. In winter months, arrangements must be made at time of booking and only for shows starting at 11am.

When are school performances?
School performances, depending on the show, are usually scheduled for 10am or 11am Monday-Friday. Please call 212-226-4085 for exact dates and times available.

When should I book?
As soon as you know what show you are interested in. Our Spring shows sell out in January. So, the sooner the better.

How many parents can I bring?
We ask that you maintain the 1 adult to every 4 children ratio.

Are you wheelchair accessible?
While we do not have a wheelchair access ramp (NY Historic Landmark status prohibits it) we have had wheelchair patrons in our audience. We asked that the wheelchair patron come with assistance and someone is able to lift the wheelchair up 3 steps. Please call ahead as space is limited.

I am a part of Stay-At-Home Mom Group. Can we come?
Yes, please call 212-226-4085 for available space.

How long are performances?
Shows are typically one hour long.

Can I bring my infant with me?
MCT does not prohibit anyone from entering the theatre. However, we ask that if the child gets fussy you step out into the lobby with them so others can still enjoy the show.

Where are you located?
We are located at 52 White Street, between Broadway and Church. Two blocks South of Canal.
